ORIC
ORIC stands for Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization. The purpose of establishing ORIC is to create research culture in the university and promote academia-industry linkages. ORIC provides the much-needed platform for research and development by bringing in all research activities under one roof. Instead of working individually, ORIC encourages collaboration among individuals and organizations for creating a visible social impact.
ORIC in Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology will strive to play a lead role in research and development nationally and make its presence felt internationally.
The purpose of ORIC at Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology is to provide an enabling environment to all stakeholders—individual researchers, industry, and government organizations—to work collaboratively for creating new ideas and putting them into practice for the benefit of all concerned. The ORIC at SUIT will serve all stakeholders with focus on the following values:

ORIC ACTIVITIES:
1. Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization, Sarhad University of Science and IT (ORIC-SUIT) organized a webinar on “Statistics in Scientific Research” on 30th December, 2020. Dr.Akhtar Nadhman Shams, Chairman, Department of Biotechnology, CECOS University was the guest speaker. The objective of the webinar was to familiarize young faculty and postgraduate scholars with statistical concepts in a straight- forward and accessible way using practical examples from a variety of disciplines. After attending the online seminar, the participants understood the use of statistical methods in designing research, analyzing data and drawing conclusions.
2. Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization, Sarhad University of Science and IT (ORIC-SUIT)) organized a webinar on “Writing a Compelling Grant to Fund Your Research" on 27 th November 2020. Dr. Ibrar Khan, (Associate Professor, Centre of Biotechnology and Microbiology, University of Peshawar) was the guest speaker. The objective of the webinar was to familiarize young faculty and postgraduate scholars with potential grants especially in current arid funding climate. Finding someone to fund the ideas is crucial for all academics. This is especially true for post graduate researchers looking to make the jump to an independent research career.
3. Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization, Sarhad University of Science and IT (ORIC-SUIT) organized one day seminar on “Software Project management” on 8 th January, 2020. Mr. Abdul Wadood, CEO and Mr. Babu Khan, Director Logics Builder were the guest speakers. Seminar objective was to provide students with the knowledge of the latest tools and technologies being used in the industry so they have a clear idea while working in an industry after graduation.
4. Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization, Sarhad University of Science and IT (ORIC-SUIT) organized one day workshop on “Brain Machine Interface Modern and Biomedical Engineering” on 23 rd December, 2019. Dr. Naweed Syed, Professor/Scientific Director Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, Canada, was the guest speaker. The objective was to elaborate Brain Machine Interface: Modern Medicine and Biomedical Engineering, for Scientist, Doctors, Biomedical Engineers and Students.
5. Three Days Workshop on “Entrepreneurship and Career Development” December 2-4, 2019
Sarhad University- Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC-SUIT) organized a Three Days Workshop on “Entrepreneurship and Career Development” on December 2-4, 2019 for FYP Coordinators, Post-graduate and Senior Undergraduate students of the University. The resource person of the Seminar was Dr. Zafar Siddique, Director of ORIC “ISRA University, Karachi”.
In three days of workshop Zafar Siddique, Director of ORIC “ISRA University, Karachi discussed new business startups, about searching jobs and scholarships, students training about searching market for employment, scholarships and learn Interview skills. ORIC-SUIT also arranged meetings with ORIC Officials and discussed ORIC Development and establishing entrepreneurship center, meeting with CDC/ UILO Officials regarding its functioning and performance enhancement techniques and meeting with FYP Coordinators and Departmental ILOs regarding industrial oriented projects, its commercialization and technology transfer.
6. Awareness Session with University Students on Harassment at Workplace Act-2010
Sarhad University- Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC-SUIT) organized awareness session with University Students on “Harassment at Work Place ” and “Cyber Crimes Act 2016” on 28th Nov.2019. Awareness Session was with university students on Anti Harassment act 2010 and mechanism at the provincial level to deal with such issues. Therefore, these students will be oriented and aware of the available laws and complaint mechanists to make them able to register their cases and deal with harassment.

7. Seminar on HEC-Microsoft Imagine Cup 2020
The ORIC-SUIT in collaboration with Higher Education Commission organized an awareness seminar on Imagine Cup 2020 on 18th Nov. 2019. for the students/faculty of Sarhad University, in order to guide them about the upcoming Imagine Cup 2020 and make them able to take maximum advantage of the event.
The guest speaker of the seminar was Mr. Sheikh Rizwan, Education Program Manager, Microsoft Pakistan.
In addition to Imagine Cup 2020, other topics discussed during the Seminar included Microsoft’s Cloud Computing Platform Available Under HEC’s Umbrella Focusing Educational Scenarios and Microsoft’s Office 365.
The Seminar was followed by the Guest Speaker meeting with Director DNC Syed Rafaqat Ali and Director CDC Dr. Syed Gohar Abbas regarding the Microsoft Products, O365 services for Faculty & Students and Imagine Cup 2020, a platform for students in Pakistan to showcase their technical talent and potential to audiences around the globe.
8. Google Business Group Peshawar Road Show for BIZ FEST-2019
Sarhad University- Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC-SUIT) in collaboration with the CSIT department jointly organized a roadshow for the students/faculty of Sarhad University on 3rd Nov.2019, in order to guide them about the upcoming BIZ FEST 2019 and make them able to take maximum advantage of the event.
The speakers at the roadshow were the GBG Peshawar Core Team Members, Ms. Kiran Fatima, and Ms. Maidah Arshad.
The purpose of the Road Show was to acquaint students and faculty on what GBG-Peshawar is, what it does, what are its core values and how BIZ FEST,2019 can benefit students achieve their goals using different Google Tools towards Entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Included tracks of the conference include were:

9. Seminar on Market Research for Startups (8th Nov. 2019)
An awareness seminar on “Market Research for Startups” was organized by Sarhad University- Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC/CDC- SUIT) on Friday 8th Nov. 2019.
The resource person of the seminar was Mr. Bilal Farooq Khan, Marketing & Communications Lead – National Incubation Centre (NIC) Peshawar.
The honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Salim Ur Rehman was the Chief Guest at the occasion.
The targeted participants of the seminar were the FYP coordinators/Supervisors and awards winning students of the TechnoSUIT Expo 2019.
The key objectives of the seminar were to give an introduction to students regarding entrepreneurship aware of the students how to do market research before a startup/FYP. give a holistic view of the global and local entrepreneurship ecosystem help students in understanding of the lean startup model.
10. Seminar on Protection of Research outcomes for Commercialization.
A One Day Seminar on “Protection of Research outcomes for Commercialization” was organized by Sarhad University- Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC-SUIT) in collaboration with Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Center (PASTIC) Peshawar and ORIC- University of Peshawar on Thursday, July 18, 2019.
Ms. Ghazala Malik, Deputy Director PASTIC Peshawar, and Mr. Zahoor Ahmad, Manager (ORIC), University of Peshawar were the Resource Persons of the Seminar
The targeted participants of the seminar were the faculty members and senior graduates of the University.
The Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Salim Ur Rehman was the chief guest at the occasion.
11. Successful Completion of one Month Short Course on “Microcontroller and Arduino Platform”
Sarhad University- Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC-SUIT) has successfully conducted a one-month short course on “Microcontroller and Arduino Platform” that was held on 14th Feb. 2019. The Resource Persons of the Course were Dr. Amjad Ali, Director ORIC and Mr. Awais Khawar Naseem, Lab Assistant
CSIT-SUIT. The aim of the course was to make students able to design their own projects to solve problems from daily life and surroundings.
The Honorable Vice-Chancellor was the Chief Guest of the Ceremony and distributed the certificates among the students and the resource persons.
A Seminar on Rapid Control Prototyping using the Arduino platform was also organized on this occasion for the students to further enhance their knowledge and motivate them towards the potential opportunities in the domain.
The resource person of the seminar was Dr. Nasim Ullah from CECOS University Peshawar.
12. Entrepreneurial Landscape and the role of NIC Peshawar
Sarhad University- Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC-SUIT) organized the Seminar on “Entrepreneurial Landscape and the role of National Incubation Centre (NIC) Peshawar” was held on 6th Dec. 2018. Resource Person was, Mr. Bilal Farooq Khan, the Leader of the Marketing and Communications Team, NIC Peshawar.
TThe Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Salim Ur Rehman was the Chief Guest.
In this seminar, the resource person explained the Entrepreneurial Landscape and the role of NIC Peshawar.
13. Seminar on Commercialization of SUIT Technologies through Innovation Summit KP
The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC-SUIT) organized the seminar on Nov 15, 2018.
The key objectives of the seminar were:
to inspire the faculty and students and train them on how to plan projects with industry to share success stories of university technology transfer to industry to share how to participate in an innovation summit effectively.
The Resource Person of the seminar was Mr. Rahmat Ullah, Chief Coordinator, Institute of Research Promotion, Secretary-General, South Asia Triple Helix Association, and Manager ORIC, University of Management and Technology Lahore.
14. Dynamics of Managing Modern Organizations
Sarhad University- Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC-SUIT) Organized seminar on 3rd January 2017. Dr. Muhammad Zeb Khan, Director (ORIC-SUIT), briefly highlighted the objectives and functions of ORIC in creating and sharing indigenous knowledge for addressing local problems. Mr. Asad Shah, Chief Manager at State Bank of Pakistan (Peshawar Region), was the guest speaker. The speaker highlighted various challenges that modern organizations are confronted with and suggested some strategies for gaining a
competitive edge. He emphasized the need for proactive thinking and flexible policies as the basis for coping with fast changes in the environment in which
an organization operates.
15. Regulations in Pakistan
Sarhad University- Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC-SUIT) Organized seminar on 28th February 2017. An objective to provide an opportunity to both regulators and their clients to share their perspectives about nature, working, and effectiveness of regulations in higher education and the telecommunication sectors. Three speakers including Muhammad Ismail, Consultant Quality Assurance, Higher Education Commission, Mr. Abdul Wahid Khalil, Zonal Director, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, and Prof. Dr. Yorid Ahsan Zia argued in support of regulations whereas another three experts including Prof. Dr. Ghias ul Haq, Dean, Management Sciences, Sarhad University Dr. Amjad Amin, University of Peshawar, Dr. Ahmad Farhan Saeed spoke against regulations in Pakistan.
16. The Role of HEC in Research & Innovation
Sarhad University- Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC-SUIT) Organized seminar in Collaboration of Business Administration SUIT on 28th September 2017. Speaker has highlighted the role and achievements of HEC in different spheres of Higher Education with special focus on Evaluation of HEC ( Dr. Wali ur Rehman), Quality
Assurance ( Eng. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad), Research & Innovation ( Dr. Muhammad ZebKhan), and Scholarship Scheme ( Dr. Gohar Abbas).
